courier mondays…

Respect the bicycle courier! Not only on mondays… This is what we call a real courier… Seen him on the streets of NYC many times, once had a chat, told me he’s out as a messenger since he came back from the Vietnam War… Now you’re talking! Found on Landlord’s! Ride safe…

  1. That’s Nick from Staten Island, a true veteran (war, NYC bike). I met him when I was on the road a couple of decades ago. He’s always ridden a small front wheel. Says it improves handling…claims it saved his life a few times.

    • Slomo says:

yep, i know this with the front wheel. he told me too and there is the other messenger veteran 25+ that also uses a 24 front wheel! maybe that#s what you do after 25 years ;-) ride safe…

The swedish post uses a 584(26″) back wheel and a smaller 507(24″)frontwheel great handling, a bit scary when going from a 28″ touringbike with more stability. almost crashed twice in the first month when turning to agressivly.
Although it probably depends more on the forkangle and rake.

Sixdays 1985

This Thursday Ass Savers are putting on an exhibition of black and white film photographs from the 1985 Six Day Race in Berlin called Trackside ’85. The photographer, Staffan Jofjell, is a family friend of Ass Savers’ CEO and Co-founder, Staffan Weigel, and the images capture a fantastically interesting look at what was happening on the track, behind the scenes, and at a giant party in the middle of it all.

Trackside ’85 kicks off in Berlin on 17 July at Keirin Cycle Culture Café with an opening event featuring vintage track bikes alongside the photos and a talk by Staffan Jofjell.

See more at trackside85.com or Thursday from 6pm  @ Oberbaumstraße 5
